Olleros

This is the main classic downhill ride of Peru. Since the first ride, more than 30 years ago, this trail has been ridden by almost every Peruvian rider.
Dropping 3400m from the Andes to the shores of the Pacific Ocean makes this trip one great adventure and is one of the funniest trails we have in Peru.

Recommended for:
Intermediate level with experience on long descents.
IMBA Blue Square average, but has lower and higher level sections.

Season:
Dry Andean season: from May to November (not exactly).

Riding time:
5 hours approx.

About the Place:

Olleros name is because of the ancestral job of this region: cooking pots of clay (ollas in spanish), these pots are a very typical and classic way to cook some meals, traditional people say that meals are better if cooked in a pot of clay.
The village is located at 2800m height but we start at higher altitude.

The Trail:

SINGLETRACKS downhill trail / 20+ Km / Intermediate to Expert Level. If you feel that can´t make it you have the option to ride by the gravel road.
MORE SINGLETRACKS: 30 Km easy flat ride but have to pedal anyway, some parts on singletracks other by gravel road.
Another thing is weather: depending the month the weather in the coast could be very cold and humid, so ask before what to wear.

Important:

To ride all sections, you must be very honest with your skills, if never have done before a downhill by singletracks, please consider seriously to take instead the gravel road.
In case you want to try (think of the possibility of spend too much time on the trail and shorten the trip final distance or have some injury) this route has a technical first section (A) that usually must be done in 45 minutes as average, if you take more time is because you do not have the required experience, skill  so you will not have the endurance for the rest of trail, so then, you must ride only by the gravel road that follows beside the trail.
Section B flows easier, section C is the hardest, only for good riders, section D starts once the downhill singletracks end and takes you to San Bartolo Beach.
Olleros is available only if you are at least an intermediate rider. Beginners may ride here too but will use the road instead of the trails.
