Pacha Trails Singletracks
The place where mountain biking began.
In the 90s first generation of mountain bikers knew that these amazing lands were the ideal ones for this new sport. Since then many things have changed, but the spirit remains with new trails built for the new generations.
Season: Trails are fully available from November to June. From July to October, it may rain in the area, if that happens some sections may be unrideable, forcing us to make some changes to the track.
Pacha Trails I: 300-600 mt positive altitude / 20-25 Km / 2:30-3:00 riding time (Beginners and Regular).
Pacha Trails II: 600-800 mt positive altitude / 22-30 Km / 2:30-3:30 riding time (Regular to Advanced).
About the Place:
Maybe is not very well known but Lima is surrounded by mountains on the east side.
Pacha Trails are the best and nearest ride in the south of Lima, trails are located in the mountains known as Lomas de Pachacamac (Fog Oases).
The mountains known as Lomas de Pachacamac are high enough to give us the chance, during the last 30 years, to ride our bikes, and today new trails are being built for the new generations of mountain bikers.
How to choose your mtb trail:
It is essential to know your skills and training to choose the right trail:
1. If you don´t ride on singletracks and you to ride on gravel pick the Pacha Valley ride.
2. If you are on the starter or intermediate level of Mountain Biking but want to do an adventure ride go to the Pacha Trails I ride.
3. If you are strong enough and skilled, the Pacha Trails II section is the rightful choice.
About the Rides:
Pacha Trails I: A 20-25K loop for riders that are looking for a good ride on singletracks but not too tough for climbing, typically an intermediate level with average training. With less than 400m of total climb, and 70% of the whole trail on singletracks.
Pacha Trails II: This is 85% of the ride on singletracks and 600 or more meters of climbing, targeted to intermediate to advanced skill riders but well-trained.
Seasons:
Available the whole year, except when it rains (more frequently from July to October).
Lima weather has practically no rain from November to May, so is 99% sure that all trails are available during these months.
February is the hottest month reaching 35°C+ at noon, so leaving at the earliest is recommended or planning to ride from 4 to 7 pm.
Starting from June, weather changes and rains start, but is during August and September, with 13 °C as average temperature and constant moisture, mist and drizzle that wets the ground, so riding some trails becomes an impossible mission. If that happens we must make some changes during the ride choosing some less technical trails.
What to bring:
Try to bring your basic equipment: helmet, gloves, protection, and shoes (SPD pedals available).
During summer (jan-mar) 2+ Lt of water and sunscreen, and in winter (jul-sep) add a wind vest or a couple of layers.
Extra clothes.
